Does anyone know where I can get custom sleeves printed?

Next time I go to a magic thing I want to make a statement.

Grites

Okay. So I’m still having some trouble filling the hole left by Timely Reinforcements in my deck. I lose life a lot quicker thanks to shocklands, and I don’t have any powerful lifegain. I also don’t want to splash green at this point.

But I’ve come up with a possible solution?

I think I’m going to cut the crypt ghasts to about 2, and then add 2 Firemane Avengers.

I almost always have at least two spirit tokens on the field to attack with. This card could be handy I think?

Alright guys. I got a rough idea that I’m going to try out.

A jund ramp deck. With a focus on black. So… i’m really nervous about the mana base and It might not work at all but we’ll see…

basically I want to do things like:

  • Crypt ghast
  • Liliana of the Dark Realms (for all her abilities. Swamp tutoring, + or minus X = # of swamps, and emblem with swamps give 4B)
  • Griselbrand
  • and… borborymos enraged? If I can make it work?

and mana dumps like:

  • Devils play
  • and possibly diabloic revelation

And then I’m planning on having vampire nighthawks and maybe basilica screechers (or something else with extort or lifelink). And then the fact that most of my creatures have flying makes them more valuable targets for Lilianna’s -3 ability.

I mean I want to do all these cool things I’m just nervous that with so many swamp dependent things, a three colour mana base will be too difficult? But then if I put in like chromatic lantern, maybe? But then also there’s the idea that maybe primarily green ramps decks just do it better. so why bother with black?

I don’t know you guys.

Help on this one? I’m a little pressed for time, but I’m going to so more searching around for monoblack decks or similar things to get ideas from once I’ve got the time tonight.

People who have experience with similar decks: You opinions are very much wanted!

I’m feeling like I wanna make a deck that makes use of some extort cards, and possibly griselbrand. Are there some relevant mono black decks out there (or any colour combination really)? I noticed Conley woods played one at pro tour Gatecrash.

naftman asked: You little sister is totally rad

She is, she’s really really cool, and I’m super proud of her. She has a lot of big ideas, and she’s very creative. I’m kinda waiting for the right time to bring her to a tournament with me. But I need to get more comfortable with the community in the city first. I’m thinking a prerelease would probably be the best thing to bring her to first. One day.

26 2 / 2013

So I used to worry that my sister wasn’t going to turn out to be anything like me

But then she comes home from school yesterday to tell me that for her school english project on the Illiad, she’s making Magic The Gathering cards out of all the characters.  And that’s how I ended up helping her with her homework.

She has this like, rad teacher that used to play MTG. And I think it’s so cool that in my town, nearly all the magic players are female. I play with mostly women. My little 13 year old sister plays with mostly women.

I really hope that one day, when she starts participating in tournaments, she won’t have to face the same shit that I do. So if you’re wondering why I get so pissed about sexist asswipes in MTG, that’s why.

Because I have this little sister who sat and watched me play magic with my friends, and thought it was so cool that she saved up money and went to buy her own cards! So that she could learn and play with me! And then she brought those cards to school and taught all her friends, and they come over to our house and play MAGIC. These 13 year old GIRLS. They LOVE this game, and I don’t want to see them turn away from it when they get older and realize how hostile the community is to them just because they aren’t boys.

And if any of you shithead woman hating, rape-trivializing, sexists give her any of your shit, I’ll fuck you up.

I’m not kidding.

I will fuck you up. I will tear your intestines out through your throat and string you up with them.

Anonymous asked: Everyone runs into unsavory people when they play Magic; it's not a matter of gender or even sexuality so stop trying to focus blame on a group of people rather than the actual person at fault. If you refuse to deal with it you can kindly leave the community seeing as that you're just trying to stir up drama. Silencethereafter has brought up a more than valid point and still you sit there and throw a tantrum rather than attempting to understand what she said. Your ignorance isn't cute, stop it.

Aww, the grayface thinks i’m trying to be cute for it. Are you fucking pissed that I’m not being ‘cute’ for you? Does it just fucking tick you off that I spend a moment of my time talking about real issues and standing up for myself instead of sitting down, shutting up, and playing ‘cute’ for you? Man that must really fucking PISS YOU OFF.

Cry more male/male apologist tears, asswipe.

Here’s some facts:

Group of people I was blaming: Sexist, misogynistic, women hating, harassers and the people who enable them

Group of people I was not blaming: People who just so happen to play magic

Just trying to stir up drama huh? Never heard that woman-silencing tactic before. Cause we’re all just drama whores who want attention, right? It’s not as if women are victims or anything. By all means, keep harassing me. I deserve it. For trying to ‘stir up drama’.

You’re proving my point, dumbass.

(EDIT: I’m tagging this mtg so people in that tag will STOP THINKING THIS SHIT DOESN’T HAPPEN.)

thesilencethereafter:

Not to be a dick, but I have never been the subject of any negativity being a female magic player. If I get any reaction at all, it’s either awkward flirting, “wow that’s so cool! a girl who knows magic!” or “hi, my name’s ____. what’s yours?” Most of the time, I’m just another magic player. I’ve played magic many times in around fifteen different shops and a few large ptqs, and I’ve never been harassed or anything. Maybe you guys just know some rude boys, rather than civilized men. And don’t get me wrong, those situations above are super uncool and not okay at all. But I don’t think it should be a blanket statement about magic players as a whole. That’s just my two cents though.

Okay so I was just gonna ignore this originally. But now I’ve had some time to kind of collect my thoughts, and I feel like it’s absolutely necessary to tell you something:

Yes, you ARE being a dick.

This post is all kinds of problematic.

First of all, I have to wonder what your purpose was in posting that shit. Here are some options I came up with.

  • You think that the male voice in the mtg community is so very marginalized that you needed to speak up and defend them (seriously!?!)
  • You felt the need to trivialize my experiences because you think that I’m uppity and deserve to be harassed
  • You felt the need to trivialize my experiences because you want men to be able to continue harassing women. After all: Boys will be boys!  (I believe you worded it ‘rude boys’ though! But you were saying the exact same thing ^^ Potatoes, potahtoes right?)
  • You don’t think men should have to confront their own misogyny and wanted to make sure that you added an unwanted and UNNEEDED disclaimer to my post so that anyone who reads it won’t take it seriously because I’m making a supposedly unprecedented ‘blanket statement’ about men. That’s funny though. I don’t remember making any blanket statements. I DO remember calling out harassers and misogynists though!
  • You thought that my opinion, as a singular woman, had SO MUCH weight, so much IMPORTANCE, and BEARING on the community, that you were worried that I would scare everyone away! That I would cause irreparable damage to the mtg communities reputation if my wiley words went unchecked! Because I am just that WELL RESPECTED in the community! (Well sorry to break it to you, but no one gives two shits about what I say, and me calling out my harassers isn’t going to change a damn thing because I’m just one person, and I’m female at that. And because of people like you who constantly play ‘male apologist’ and would rather scold me than the shitty men who did this to me.)

Well good for you! You checked me good! You were all: OH GOD. THIS WOMAN IS SAYING EVERY SINGLE MAGIC PLAYER HATES WOMEN!! NO! I HAVE TO CORRECT IT OR NO ONE WILL PLAY MAGIC ANYMORE. *types* “Not ALL men are harassers!!”

Well la de fucking da. No shit. Go you, You want a cookie? here.

Also. The people who have disrespect me? Who rolled their eyes and write me off? And tell crude jokes, and sexist jokes, and treat me like a stupid piece of shit?

range anywhere from the age or 20-40.

So tell me more about your rude boys. And your ‘civilized’ men. And while you’re at it, explain to me where these rude boys learn their behaviours from, if not from ‘civilized’ men.

And while you’re at it, explain to me why ‘just knowing some rude boys’ is ‘just’ a small problem. ‘Just’ some stupid little kids. What? You think harassment is better if it comes from preteens? Seriously? You think it’s somehow NOT misogyny because of their age?

And how about why the FUCK anyone would turn a post about MEN WHO HARASS, DEMEAN, AND/OR BULLY WOMEN, a post trying to discuss misogyny in the community, trying to call out problems and bring them to peoples attention so people can be AWARE of them, and DO SOMETHING about them when they SEE IT HAPPENING… Why would you turn that into a post about “All those good men, who don’t do that!!” when they clearly weren’t even the ones being discussed in the first place?!

BECAUSE NO. I’m NOT going to acknowledge all the guys who are nice to me. Cause you know what? I don’t think they deserve a fucking cookie for meeting the minimum requirement for being considered a decent human being.

You can have your two cents back now. I don’t want them.

And for those of you who are about to hit reblog to tell me my anger was totally uncalled for and I’m being too mean? Yeah. You can tell me that when you start telling my shitbag harassers the same thing. Until then, 0 fucks given.

(Now look silencethereafter. I realize I’m pretty fucking pissed off and I’m saying some mean stuff to you right now. I swear to god I don’t hold it against you personally, but against a culture that ingrains misogyny in both men and women. If I can get a halfway decent apology from you and maybe a little understanding of what you did wrong, I swear I won’t continue to hold this against you.

I just think it’s really fucking messed up that when a woman complains of being harassed, even other women are more inclined to, if they say anything at all, sympathize with all the ‘poor men’ than they are to say ‘sorry you were harassed’ and show some fucking compassion.)

I didn’t lose any followers for being ‘vulgar’. In fact I gained one! You guys are A+!

I’m glad you’re all cool with cussing and female rage and sparkling sex organs (Fun fact: Mine have teeth. To chew up rapists and rape apologists and people who make rape jokes. It feeds on their mangled bodies and sates it’s thirst with male tears :] It’s basically like I have a misandrist monster between my legs!!).

Thanks for putting up with the politics interrupting the magic talk. Normally I keep it to my personal blog, but there are some things that make this overlap acceptable for me, and the first is that it involves MTG and the magic community.

Re: retrigger, thoughtxriot

better-humans:

Seriously, did any of you ever seen someone bully a girl playing Magic?

Literally every time I’ve been in a Magic shop and there has been a girl present, I’ve seen guy Magic players treat her with disrespect. It’s not every guy, but it is every girl — and it’s rare that the other guys step in and say anything about it.

Sometimes it’s a few patronizing comments, like they assume women have a harder time understanding how card games work. Sometimes it’s outright bullying, insulting her and pressuring her not to be there. Sometimes it’s using sexist language and rape metaphors to describe a Magic game, when the person one seat over could be a survivor. All of these things make the person they’re directed at (not to mention the rest of us who hear it) not want to come back.

I do not understand why this shit even has to be said.

It sure sucks that it does, though.

You have guys have got to be kidding me.

I saw Better-Humans original post on my dash not long after I posted THIS POST. (I actually thought that Better-Humans may have seen it and wrote that post because of it, but maybe not, idk.  I’ve been informed that yes it was.)

You know what that post was? A response to anons who were attacking me for blogging about magic while being female. WHILE BEING FEMALE.

When I go into card shops or participate in tournaments, there’s always the one douche that makes kitchen jokes, or patronizes me, or   disrespects me because of my gender. I can’t even list the number of times I’ve been talked down to by self important douchebags.

And you guys? retrigger and thoughtxriot? You guys are shit. You really think this type of ‘bullying’ (And I hate that word. It’s not bullying. bullying is a term people use to sugar coat hate crimes in highschool. It’s not bullying, it’s strait up sexism) doesn’t exist in your precious community?! LOOK AROUND. It exists in our entire CULTURE and you fucking think it doesn’t exist and doesn’t need to be talked about in your own little corner of Nerddom? You think you’re somehow immune to it?!

No. I’ll fucking tell you why it needs to be talked about:

  • Cause I can’t go through one tournament without some guy rolling their eyes at me
  • Because people are still fucking surprised that I can play magic while being female
  • Because I get fucking ANON HATE in my inbox telling me to fucking shut up because I don’t know anything
  • Because people still think rape is a joke, and talk about it during matches
  • Because guys write me off as an easy win before they even sit down across from me
  • Because people take their losses against me harder than against men.
  • Because some dude singled me out in a group to explain who Paulo Vitor Damo Da Rosa was, and meanwhile I’m sitting there like “I fucking know. I watched him play in the online stream of the Grand Prix this weekend.” Only to be dismissively told “Oh you mean and star city games open? They don’t stream GPs.” -.- (This being back when the stream on MTG website was new)
  • Because I’m held to a higher standard, like because of my gender I have to be fucking amazing or no one will ever take me seriously. If there’s something I don’t know, I get more shit for it than a guy at the same skill level.
  • Because when people deny it exists, people can go on doing sexist shit, meanwhile patting themselves on the back because I can’t POSSIBLY be sexist!

So congrats assholes, you’re part of the system that erases and perpetuates misogyny in the MTG community. Kindly go fuck yourselves on your own male privilege.

Try talking to a girl first before you make sweeping assumptions about the shit we face from magic players.
